Contract: Garden Extension, Douglas Muir Drive
We were asked to remove an existing glass conservatory and design a garden room with a log burning stove, an area for relaxing which connects directly to a landscaped garden. We matched and extend the brick of the original house and wraped an L-shaped wall to form an end nook for the log burning stove. The walls then become fully glazed and look directly onto the garden. We designed a large paved area for external dining with large planter boxes formed from railway sleepers. The use of the brick tied the new extension to the original house and the cedar doors and windows create a modern and light space.
