Dalsetter

Contract: New Headquarters Building
Client: Domicillary Care
Contract Description: planning stage

The brief was to design a new headquarters building of around 600m2 of office and training space for our client to relocate their current offices to a purpose built facility in Dalsetter, Glasgow.

This linear building was designed with an entrance court at one end which is expressed by an entrance court protected by a curved wing of metal cladding set at 90 degrees to the main body of the building. This external entrance area leads to a double height reception area with meeting rooms, interview rooms and toilets accessed from this entrance space. The main body of the building is a linear format with large flexible spaces on the ground floor for training and seminars and open plan office areas with three private offices on the upper floor. A continuous spine wall along the back of the building links the elements of the building together. A separate garage building with the breakout garden space in between gives the clients an option for future development or expansion. The north facing wall has few openings for security and thermal reasons, whilst the south façade has larger areas of glazing to provide light and solar gain to the interior. The offices on the upper floor have clerestory glazing to light the space.
